Overview:
The most common and widely adapted open pollinated Brussel Sprout variety for the home garden! Grows up to 24″ tall and produces massive amounts of tight, tender heads that average 1.5″ in diameter.
Growing Instructions:
Sowing:
Frost brings out the best flavor brussel sprouts, plant in late may or early June for a fall harvest. Start seeds 1/2″ in soil: when they grow to 6in tall, transplant or thin them to 2ft apart. Make sure to compress soil around the seed and keep soil moist. Ensure pH levels of 6.0-7.0.
Germination: 7–10 days at 50–85°F.
Care:
About 4 months after transplanting, the first sprouts should be ready. Twist off of stem from bottom up. Sprouts with 1″ diameter will be the most tender. If heavy winds pose a threat, stake plants for support.
Harvest:
90–110 days from transplant. Pick sprouts from bottom up at 1–2 inches.
