Overview:
Snowball turnips are a great variety for bunching, with roots that are nearly round and white in color. The flesh is crisp, tender and sweet. This variety is fast growing and popular in the southern areas and only takes 50 days to reach harvestingsize.
Growing Instructions:
Sowing: Snowball turnips are a cool weather crop, they thrive when planted three weeks before the last frost in the spring, or after the hottest part of the summer for a fall crop. Direct sow in rich (pH 6.0-7.0) and full sun, sow 1/2″ deep in rows 12-18″ apart. As the seedlings grow thin to 4-6″ apart. Germination: 5–10 days at 45–85°F.
Care: Apply mulch to conserve moisture and control weeds. Watch out for pests and remove them immediately to prevent damage.
Harvest: 35–50 days for roots, 20–30 days for greens. Harvest roots at 2–3 inches in diameter.
