First crop can be direct sown when soil temperatures reach about 35°F, or as soon as soil can be worked. If soil temperatures reach rises about 75°F, the seeds become dormant. Direct sow the seeds 1/8-1/4″ deep in rich soil(pH 6.0-7.0) with full sun, spreading them as thinly as possible in rows 1-2′ apart. When seedlings begin to grow thin them to 8-12″ apart. Plant in early spring or fall. For companion planting, grow with onions, cucumbers, or carrots.

Harvest: 45–60 days. Cut whole heads or outer leaves for prolonged harvest.
