Overview:
Catnip is a vigorous mint that is loved by cats. Grayish green leaves have a strong mint-like flavor and may be harvested late in the season. It is attractive to bees and may be used to aid pollination in your herb garden. May become invasive, so deadhead if you don’t want Catnip to self sow!
Growing Instructions:
Sowing: Sow in moist seed starting soil 1/8in deep, as they require sunlight to germinate. Maintain soil temperature between 60-80F and keep soil constantly moist but not waterlogged. Avoid intense direct sunlight until seedlings have emerged.
Germination: 7–20 days at 60–80°F.
Care: Catnip is low maintenance, as well as drought tolerant once established. Catnip also prefers full sun though it can tolerate partial shade. Use well drained, sandy or loamy soil with a PH between 6.1-7.8.
Harvest: Harvest the leaves, stems, and flowers when the plant is actively growing for the best flavor. You can harvest throughout the season once the plants reach 6-8 inches tall.
